Be Quiet, Tom

This is just malicious.

Former Republican congressional leader Tom DeLay has said if Obama was serious about changing Washington, he would announce: "We are in crisis, we are at war, people are losing jobs; we are not going to have this (inauguration) party. Instead, I'm going to get sworn in at the White House. I'm going to have a nice little chicken dinner, and we'll save the $US125 million."'

After eight years, the Dems have won control of the White House.

One Hundred and forty-six years after the Emancipation Proclamation, and forty-five years after the Voting Rights Act, this nation has elected a black man president.

People have a right to celebrate those things, and to say otherwise is pure petulance.

Please be quiet, Tom.

We could also save a lot more if we were not in Iraq and Gitmo was closed.

Would have been cheaper not to have3 fought WW2 or the Cold War or to just close Joliet, too, but those, also, were/are not reasonable options.

Absolutely right, Joliet prisoners tired and sentenced, War World II stopped Nazis from Owning Europe, Cold War end to the Red Curtain's regime.

Iraq war however close to 5,000 American lives lost, 100,000 plus Iraqis and of course closing in on a trillion dollars in cost. For what? Increased terrorism, more terror recruits and a economy which will have us begging to the Russians and China for help.

Oh yeah and Gitmo, American tax payers foot the bill for these guys to live better than they did at home and never even get charged with a crime....nice.

Tony,

I don't begrudge the democrate's celebration. The man fought hard and won, throw a party.

I begrudge the democrate's hypocrisy. They attacked Bush for spending $40 Million and now four years later this country is worse off than it was. This inauguration is going to cost four to five times the amount Bush spent.

Schools in Detroit do not have money to even buy toilet paper. If we truely want to become a color blind nation, then shouldn't we treat Obama as we would any other President? Why does this President get to spend more money on his inauguration than any other?

I say he needs to be treated equally. I think Tom DeLay has the right idea. Question the out of control spending.

Dear Mr Country,

You write: Iraq war however close to 5,000 American lives lost, 100,000 plus Iraqis and of course closing in on a trillion dollars in cost. For what? Increased terrorism, more terror recruits and a economy which will have us begging to the Russians and China for help.

For what? First, the removal of a dictator whose military dreams and ventures threatened much of the world's oil supply. Like it or not, the cut off of Persian Gulf oil would cause the starvation of millions around the world.

Second, increased terrorism? Not here. And that was the point.

Third, you seem to neglect the fact that 26 million Iraqis, whose lives are far from perfect now, are no longer under Saddam's secret police.

As for Gitmo, when in history has any nation ever had to bring criminal charges against prisoners of war?

Thanks for reading.

Peace, Tony
